Head Coach Roy Beekman began in his basketball career while attending Mater Christi High School (now known as St. John's Prep) in Long Island City, New York. There he was named to the New York All City and High School All American Teams. After graduating from High School, Coach Beekman played his College Ball at Division I Niagara University and graduated with a Bachelors’ Degree in Sociology. He then began Coaching with the Kenny Smith Aim High AAU Basketball Program. The Program featured premium players Ron Artest, Shaheen Holloway, Tilek Brown, and Smush Parker who would go to play Division I College Ball, and some in the NBA. Coach Beekman then got the opportunity and moved into the college coaching ranks as an Assistant Coach at Division I Long Island University in 2001.

In 2004 he joined the staff at Hostos. It was both a historical and magical year. Hostos won the CUNYAC, Region XV, and NJCAA National Championships. The Caimans were the first CUNYAC School to ever achieve this level of success.

Beekman was named Head Men's Basketball Coach in 2006 and in the 2007 season led the team to it's second most successful season winning the CUNYAC Title, Region XV Championship and finishing 3rd at the National Tournament (NJCAA). He was also named District 5 Coach of the Year. In the 2008-09 season he led the Caimans to another CUNYAC Regular Season Title.

2010-2011 SEASON: Team fished 16-15 and placed 2nd in the CUNY Final Four playoff, which earned the Hostos Men’s Head Coach and his Caimans a NJCAA REGIONAL Playoff berth. He finished his coaching career at HOSTOS at 49-58 record.
